Day 48 - Connections

I love the internet. I was incredibly active in my high school days when I actually connected with people across the globe who have similar interests with me (at the time, that was anime. at the time, anime wasn't really discussed a lot).

Now it's Twitter. I'm so thankful I'm able to reach out to people (and vice versa) whom I admire and support their work (not the big names though), and connect with them. Or maybe it's a Twitter thing that allows us to do that. You rarely hear it from other big platforms like Facebook or Instagram or god forbid, LinkedIn.

It sucks to say this but it took the pandemic for me to take the leap and find my community on Twitter. I've talked to a lot of people, had some calls with some, and made a few closer friends. You get to know them a bit more personal than their tweets, and you get to see their personalities bloom through these conversations. Most of all, these convos happen asynchronously. So I don't have to reply to them ASAP. And I think that's fine because most people understood it as it is.

One thing I need help with is time management. Even though it's async, it does take up some time to reply to everyone. Twitter DMs, replies, Slack, emails! I want to talk to everyone but it's definitely not sustainable. I can see why the big names rarely respond to people. Time blocking works, but I wish I had infinite time! Too many things to do, so little time. I know that's then I really should prioritise. If everything is important, nothing is important.

One thing that can help with that is digging into what I truly value. And hopefully that would point me into the direction. Anyone wants to do a session together on this?
