I wish I was an outdoorsy, nature-loving person. I'm okay with hiking, being with nature etc. But most of the time I rather just be inside. I want to be, but I'm not.
If you're reading this now, be prepared for me to inform you of the reason I'm not an outdoor person... I'm afraid of bugs. I'm afraid of insects. I hate anything creepy crawly. (some amphibians and reptiles I'm okay though). But ones with TOO MANY legs or NO LEGS at all are the ones I cannot stand.
So obviously camping is out of the question unless you can guarantee me it is safe from all that I've mentioned above. (glamping helps a bit, but only a bit)
My SO convinced me to watched Yuru Camp aka laidback camp, it's about cute high school girls having fun camping (both solo and group). It's the cute girls doing cute things genre, and one of my least-watched genres. But since we're watching it together while having meals at home, I was easily convinced. Little did I learn I'm learning a lot about camping - how to start a fire, what's good camping food etc.
The best thing about this anime is they cover winter camping. And I think it's the ideal camping for me. Besides not having to worry about the creepy crawlies, it's less busy and quieter. Imagine having a nice cup of hot chocolate staring out into the mountains or lake with little to no people around you ... blessed. That 幸せ (shi-a-wa-se) feeling is what I strive for.
I can't wait to go to Japan and camp during the winter. I can't wait for the post-pandemic life.
