I just caught up with a friend who moved away to the EU. It was a quick call, mainly to update each other about what's happening over the past month.
It's funny how these days day I spend a lot of my time talking to people I know from Twitter, so it's refreshing to talk to someone I actually know in real life. I think of my Twitter friends as friends too but it's different compared to the people you know in real life. The biggest difference is how much you share your personal life with them. I don't think I'm at the stage yet where I share my personal life updates with my Twitter friends. I don't know when would be a good time to do so too.
And there's a really good separator between these two groups of friends too:
  • Real life friends: Personal life, work life
  • Twitter friends: Projects we're building (and some things we're passionate about that our real life friends don't share)
I don't think it's a bad thing to keep things separate, but I wonder what would be like when the lines are blurred. Will I be closer to my real life friends? Will I be form a closer bond with Twitter friends to keep things going?
If you managed to figure this out, let me know!
