I'm in my late 20s, and I would think I'd know how to express myself authentically. But I don't think I do yet.
To be authentic, I think you should know yourself, to know your values. That's fair because otherwise how do you find your authenticity? Hear me out, what if you value a lot of things and want to be a lot of things. How do you then narrow them down?
I'm writing this post to answer a question: How do I find my writing "voice"?
My conclusion was that I should know myself enough to express myself authentically. Hence my dilemma above. How does one do that?
One way that I remember reading somewhere is to keep writing and you'll eventually find your voice. I'll have a lesser problem in expressing feelings and emotions for a character I'm writing about, but mine? It's a big oof.
Like all things in life, it's a never-ending experiment. I feel bad, and I know I shouldn't, that I keep comparing myself to other writers who are able to express and articulate themselves clearly. I'm not even talking about blog posts or articles, even tweets I sometimes struggle to say things I want. I'm ranting a bit here but don't worry. I'll still continue writing. And as cheesy as it sounds, I'll still find my voice one day...
