"The wind is rising. We must try to live."

Originally a quote by Paul Valéry: “Le vent se lève! . . . Il faut tenter de vivre!”, it inspired Miyazaki Hayao to make The Wind Rises. (Probably)

The breeze we felt today was as if we turned on the AC, which honestly baffled us to no end. We very rarely get to experience such a cooling breeze to the point it's honestly a miracle. We stood at the wide opened windows of the balcony, taking in all the breeze as much as humanly possible. We don't know when will we be able to get this opportunity again, so we take it all in.

It made me think about how I miss nature (even though I'm not a nature person, to begin with, that's how much I miss the outdoors). I miss taking those walks in Japan with a gentle cooling breeze on my skin. I miss taking hikes to soak myself in the sights and sounds of the forest. I miss being one with it all, away from my desk, away from my devices to take in what truly matters.

For now, I write and I read. It's the closest thing I get to experience through the lens of someone else until our local lockdown gets lifted again. And when that happens, I'm booking the next trip out to a local beach with clear turquoise waters. I'm hopeful and excited that it'll come soon.
