Today I was part of a rotating panel session for my local fashion revolution chapter for Fashion Revolution Week. I talked about how conscious living is integrated into fashion.
Being conscious is about what you consume with all your senses, including watching TV, listening to podcasts, consuming social media, eating, and in this topic's case, buying clothes.
Being conscious is also about making a choice to consume those things that feed your overall well-being, or the choice to reduce the things that negatively impact yourself or otehrs.
How does this play into fashion? Being conscious about what you buy is being mindful of the impact it has to yourself, others, the environment and the planet. It's about a lot of things like reading the clothing labels, researching the company's sustainability practices and whole lot more. Also for my case, it's questioning before purchase - do I really need it? Will it impact me negatively or positively?
This probably requires a post itself so it's definitely something I will explore more.
