I gained a bit more work clarity with my boss at work. It was something he also admitted that he'd spent way too much time on the development team instead of his own product team. I left the autonomy to us, which is great, but I believe I've mentioned in my previous posts somewhere (or not) that it may be one of the reasons my productivity and motivation levels have been low. At least contributed. The lockdowns here have been tiresome. We're all burnt out.

If you ask me what will I be working on for the current and next month or so at work, I can't give you a clear answer because I don't know. We do have our roadmap planned but it's still hard to gauge because things change fairly quickly. It doesn't seem like we're deadset on our vision for the year itself. Yeap, I did tell my boss about it too on this day. And we'll be talking about that further in my half-year review.

I don't blame my boss by the way. In fact, I enjoy working with him. But it just baffles me how he's also mostly in charge of managing the development team, as well as the product.

He proposed we do daily check-ins with each other, on top of our weekly checkups. Both to have a clearer idea of what I plan to work on (it's not micromanaging if that's what you're thinking) and also to serve as a motivation to casually chat before work. It makes things a little bit more bearable during lockdowns.

So let's see how that goes.
