I'm starting to set and follow my boundaries at work.

It's been a bit distracting lately with a bunch of internal feedback (from our sales and customer teams) and customer feedback about our recently launched product. I can't seem to get a clear block of focus work done because of the messages that keep coming in.

I already have my Slack notifications turned off completely. But I worry there might be urgent messages that need to be addressed. I've been time blocking already on my personal schedule, and it only took me a while to realise I could apply the same for work. So I did.

When I start work in the mornings and around the end of the day, I reply to the messages I receive. I check back the channel from time to time to make sure there are no urgent messages. If there are, I'll reply to only those. If the messages can wait, I'll wait until the end of the day to do so. This also applies to the DMs I receive. If it's something that I need to unblock, then I'm okay to make that sacrifice.

It has helped since I started this week. My boss knows about it, and he's good with it too. Hopefully this can last in the long term.
