It's been on my mind recently, and it's something I'd like to announce. I was all for productivity — maximising my time spent on anything. I'm also almost always looking out for the next best productivity hack or idea.
Now, I think I can announce that I'm tired. I'm tired of productivity. It doesn't mean I'll stop being efficient in my time, but I'm tired of looking for the next best thing from productivity advices, books, gurus etc. I feel that at some point, once you've already found a system that works for you and you believe it's enough, then fantastic. It's okay to settle with what you have.
Take Ali Abdaal, for example. I admire him for being able to get so many things done fast and still able to absorb the knowledge he needs (I think). But some of the things he does is a bit questionable, like watching a movie in 2x? Podcasts sure, I can understand, but movies? (Admittedly I do that to a few dull movies that I want to get over with). There must be a line drawn somewhere when it comes to productivity. From an outsider's perspective, it doesn't seem like he'll stop to smell the flowers, but hey I wouldn't know.
All I'm trying to say is there's only so much you can do with productivity. You don't need to push yourself to the limit to do everything efficiently. We're only human.
